Lets talk about them
...
So unusual, but awesome. These crested fluffy flowers make me think of brains or chickens wobbly bits. This mixed variety comes in the most unreal colours from red to pinks and yellow. Celosia Cockscomb brings a really unique textural quality to any flower work. Just to add to their awesomeness these flowers are low maintenance thriving in hot dry environments, and will happily flower all summer long.
How to make these beauties grow
...
Sow: Late spring. 4-6 Weeks before the last frost.
How: Surface sow and cover very lightly. Celosia needs warm temperatures to germinate.
Space: 20cm
Height: 75-100cm
Where: Full sun
Days to maturity: 90-120days (depending on the size of the flower you want)
Pick: When the flowers are the size you want before they set seed.
Annual
Notes from the garden
...
Grow plants closer together to avoid branching out, making taller single stemmed flowers better for cutting. Or alternatively (the opposite haha) - pinch to encourage branching (usually results in more smaller cockscomb)
Can also be dried.

Initial seedling stems are indicative of cockscomb colour - pretty cool eh?
