I simply adore asters – the true late summer queens. Flowers heads of every size, some petite pompoms, other big shredded balls of ribbon and finally big puffy balls of incurved petals almost mistaken for ‘Mums. if you couldn’t love them anymore (I actually can’t) asters have the most insane vase life (7-10 days). These laugh in the face of Dahlias. This balloon lemon cream aster is so beautiful, and proves that yellow flowers don't have to be ugly - I'm really pushing myself here growing yellow flowers.

How to make these beauties grow
Sow: Indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost.
How: Surface sow and cover lightly – can be transplanted.

Days to maturity: 110-120 Days
Pick: When 3/4 of the flowers are open. 7 days+ vase life.

Notes from the garden
Don’t forget asters are late summer flowering, shortening day lengths initiates flowering. These will flower well into the autumn up to the first hard frost.
