I simply adore asters – the true late summer queens. flower heads of every size, some like petite pompoms, other like big shredded balls of ribbon, and finally big puffy balls of incurved petals almost mistaken for ‘Mums. if you couldn’t love them anymore (I actually can’t) asters have the most insane vase life (7-10 days). These laugh in the face of Dahlias.

How to make these beauties grow
Sow: indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost.
How: Surface sow and cover lightly – can be transplanted.

Don’t forget asters are late summer flowering, shortening day lengths initiates flowering. These will flower well into the autumn up to the first hard frost
